Thistle Run 2009, The 10th Anniversary! The official turnout was 221 Minis registered by 11am on the day. The event has became more than a run in previous years, as you know we raise money for supported charities. On the day Thistle Runners raised a grand total of £5135.81 for our charities. Enabling the Miniclan to donate £2567.91 to the Girvan RNLI and £1283.95 to the other two supported charities 'Solus' Cancer care ward (Southern General Hospital) & Arthur Shiel Animal Rescue Centre (Galashields)

On the Sunday 24th May we embarked on a virgin route for the Thistle Run.

The start, Calderglen Country Park provided everyone with a great venue for the 10th Annual run. Something for all the family and enough bacon rolls and coffee to go around. Along with the great venue we had our very own piper for the day, Peter Martin. Thank you all very much for making him feel very welcome.

At registration the Thistle Run run packs were handed out, full of sponsors goodies. Blagging is always a difficult task but this year was particularly difficult due to the ecomomic climate. Intense blagging insued and as a result the goody bags were full, including an old favorite Tunnocks Caramel Wafers and enough Hamlyns Porridge Oats to frighten the french!

After the drivers briefing we headed on our way to Girvan, our coastal end point. We were met at the road end by 5 decades of Rockstar/Superstars handing out the ever treasured Thistle Run Mugs. Peircing through some of the best back roads South Lanarkshire/South Ayrshire had to offer. Although Bumpy in places the route was still a people pleaser including the twisty turny delights of the Galloway forrest.

Once parked at Girvan, everyone headed for the tombola and the 'Guess the balloons in a MINI' Competition. Both were very successful and raised £360 for the charity fund. Not forgetting the 10th Birthday cake, Hope you all got a piece.......I got two 8=)

We at the miniclan are delighted to announce that the 2016 Thistle Run has raised a record-breaking £8000 for the charities, CLAPA and RNLI Anstruther.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so generously to the event, and also to all of our volunteers who have spent months planning and organising the day to make it go as smoothly as possible.
